Life Update: Nephew, dog, health

Standard

So I figured I would do a life update post for y’all. My nephew is going to be 7 months on Tuesday and he is growing like crazy. He’s got 2 teeth and is already trying to walk, without even crawling yet lol, he’s such a wiggle worm.

My last post talked about how my dog Melon, or Mel, has been sick. Her vet called me on Friday to tell me that her most recent stool sample showed signs of whipworms and that is what has been causing her bloody diarrhea. She explained that this particular worm is hard to see sometimes and that’s why they are just now finding it. (8 days into her hospitalization….) they have been deworming her over the weekend and I am set to pick her up tomorrow. It will be almost two weeks since she’s been home and I can’t wait to cuddle with her again. From what I understand these worms are hard to get rid of and I’ll have to get her treated every couple months just to be safe, but at least we have something to treat.

Now on to my health…I haven’t talked much about it on here (if at all) but I’ve been having some medication and dosage changes with my migraine meds. I was on Depakote for about a year and a half, but it caused me to gain about 40 lbs, did a number on my liver, gave me tremors and all kinds of great side effects. Haha but it helped my migraines. I finally had my neurologist take me off of it and put me on Topomax in December, but we are still working on the dosage. My migraines have become more frequent again, but the tremors have stopped. It’s making me restless though and I’m having trouble sleeping at night. I already have insomnia that flares up sometimes, so the losing sleep part isn’t anything new to me but I can’t stand to be restless. It feels like restless legs syndrome, but all over my body. Haha.

I also have been having increasing joint, nerve and back pain. They’ve been doing blood work, X-rays and MRIs to try and figure out what’s going on but in the meantime I’ve just been maintaining the best I can. They have talked about fibromyalgia, but say that there aren’t any good treatments out there right now. They have also mentioned degenerative disc disease, arthritis, bursitis, and anything else that they can think of but nothing is definitive yet. It’s frustrating.

Thanks for listening. 🙂 err reading. Lol
